Some people like to buy their wedding dress at home, enjoying the traditional dress fittings and shopping with family and friends. Some women like to have everything planned and just arrive in Thailand with everything shipped over ready to enjoy the big day.
Some of us however, like to fly a little bit more by the seat of our pants.

Firstly you should ignore any reviews telling you that there are only tacky, distasteful dresses available in Thailand. This is simply not the case and these people have been sent in the wrong direction! There are many incredible boutiques and shops that can tailor for any discerning bride.

Many people believe that it will be cheaper to purchase a dress in Thailand when they arrive. This is usually true but you should definitely speak to your wedding planner about recommended retailers to purchase from. You do not want your dress falling apart on the aisle! You also do not want to be ripped off paying over the odds for a cheap dress. Sadly there are retailers who will take advantage of desperate brides.
There is also the option to have a dress tailored for you out there. If you don’t mind the worry of fittings and having the dress ready in time this could be a great option for you.
It means you can put your own stamp on the dress and be able to say that it was made in Thailand while you were there which is a lovely memento to have.

Thai tradition could mean you get to wear two dresses….

In Thailand traditionally the bride will wear a thai dress for the ceremony and change into a western style dress for the evening event. That means you get the pure joy of wearing two dresses!
Its nothing to turn your nose up at. Thai dresses are incredibly flattering and have a beautiful fitted one shoulder design. They can be colourful or you can get them in a traditional white or ivory colour.
You could then go a little crazy with your western dress for your evening do, you are in Thailand after all!

You needn’t buy your dress either if you don’t wish to or if funds don’t allow.
There are some fantastic companies who have a gigantic assortment of bridal dresses (and suits for the groom) available to rent. You can check the item is perfect before renting it and feel assured it will be clean ready for your big day.

This could be a good option if your budget is a little tight and you still want the WOW factor without remortgaging your house!

Whatever your choice remember to have fun choosing, whichever dress you choose is going to look incredible against the beautiful backdrop of Thailand.
